Dear Friends,

Where is YOUR summer going?  Here it is, the fall newsletter - August, September and October.  The next one will be NOVEMBER!!!!  Have you started making your Christmas gifts yet?  Don’t panic, this newsletter is chuck full of ideas for your gift giving this year, all geared toward saving you money.  Don’t go running all over the place (wasting gas) searching for that perfect gift.  Just sit down at your embroidery or sewing machine and create.

I have to tell you that my granddaughter, Callie, turns 1 in September.  My oldest son has his 15 year class reunion this year.  The little kids that I used to teach in Sunday school are getting married and having babies.  Our Maggie and Kelsey are leaving for college in a few days. (Sigh)

New quilters are born every day.  Are you new to sewing?  Do you want to make curtains and pillows for your new apartment?  Are you an empty nester with spare bedroom that is screaming to be transformed into your sewing studio?  Are you newly retired and wanting to fit sewing back into your life? – Thinking about starting your own small sewing/embroidery business out of your home.  Come see us, - we have classes, machines, projects or challenging projects.  We will help you get started.  We guarantee you’re going to love it.

We recently added Brother sewing/embroidery machines to our line-up of machines.  We’re very happy to have been awarded the dealership for this area and look forward to offering our customers yet another choice of machines.  Kevin will be attending the Pfaff convention and I will be attending the Brother convention – both being the first week in August.  We have a machine event scheduled September 11th – 13th to showcase all the new products that will be arriving from both Brother and Pfaff.  Peek inside for more information.

Here’s a great idea – practice your machine quilting skills on quilt sandwich and then make a bag out of it.  We are having a class for the three pocket tote using an 18” square of pre-quilted fabric.  The entire project takes less than one yard of fabric. Check it out and sign up.

Join Jo’s Club or Gerties 30’s and learn lots of new skills and receive patterns for projects, both small and large.  Each club only costs 5.00 per month and includes patterns. Join both clubs and spend the entire day with us.

If you are still interested in the Pine Tree Valley Quilt, please sign up at the shop.  As soon as the waiting list if full, we’ll start another class.  The first two classes are going great and our embroidery artists are having so much fun stitching these little snowmen and Santas.

We have an all new fall class schedule and would love to have you join us in the classroom.

So, rev up those sewing machines – there’s much to do!

Bless you,

Lee

Last thought:  It’s been a difficult year for many of our neighbors-remember those in need:

Donate your time, your fabric stash and your sewing talents by making charity projects this year.  The “Home of the Brave” Iowa chapter makes Christmas stockings and pillow cases to send to our overseas troops.  Contact Loretta at l.bowman59@mchsi.com if you’d like to help out.  Your local guilds always have projects going as well as your church groups and schools.  You don’t have to look far to find someone in need.  It feels good to give.

Cornerstone Quilts will now take any brand of Sewing Machine as a Trade-in!

Machine must be in running condition.  Amount of trade-in value will depend upon the over-all condition of the machine.
