December 4 -  NO CLUB  (Come join us for the Cornerstone Quilts’ Open House weekend)

From 9:30 to 10:00 we have bre kfast pizza, fruit and muffins.  Starting around 10:00 we have a special program put on by some of our members. This group focuses on the people, fabrics and special times of the 1920’s through the 1940’s.  The Great Depression had such an enormous impact on the textile industry that fabric manufacturers of today have entire lines of reproduction fabrics from the 30’s.  It’s an interesting and fun group and I urge you to join.  Margaret has the program in March and K.C. in April.  K.C. wants everyone to bring a large crochet hook to her program and she won’t tell us why…..  We will also be learning to hand piece and hand quilt.  I’m also kicking around the idea of a 30’s block of the month quilt.  The fee is $5.00 per month and includes continental breakfast and a pattern.  Host: Lee Plisch

This group of very nice ladies meets at noon on the first Saturday of every month.  This lovely group of ladies would like to change their name to Civil Disobedient Women of today. What does that tell you about this group? This is a very fun group that enjoys the fabrics and stories of the 1800’s. We are in the process of making the blocks from the book “Civil War Love Letters” by Rosemary Youngs. Some are making the 6” and some the 4.5”. There are 121 blocks total and you can make all or part of them.  I had to raise the price to $10.00 to include pizza and the patterns for 10 blocks per month.  Host: Lee Plisch

The goal of “Stitcher's Garden” is to teach you how to use all those different sewing feet that came with your machine.  It doesn’t matter what kind of machine you own, this program is for ANY machine and anyone regardless of your experience. You do not have to own these feet to make this quilt.  These are only suggestions, you can pick and choose how to make your quilt.  The finished quilt is 85” x 93”.

Some of the different feet you will learn to use are: Pintuck, Chenille, Piping, ¼ inch, Guide attachment, Fringe – Taylor tack, Open toe, Candlewicking, Free motion, Edge, Circular embroidery attachment, Free motion Couching, Couching, Cording, and Button.

How it works:

You pre-register and pay $40.00 which includes your background fabric of 5 yards.  The monthly fee of $13.00 will include your appliqué fabric and pattern.  In month #12 you will receive three additional designs, these are completed by utilizing techniques learned in previous months.  In addition, this offers you an opportunity to use left-over fabrics from previous months.  You will also receive four blocks that use the embroidery side of your sewing machine (if you have one). Otherwise the blocks are all created the traditional way.  Host: Lee Plisch

A few notes about attending classes and clubs at Cornerstone Quilts

▪ Please call and sign up for classes/clubs so we can make sure we have room for everyone and enough supplies.

Do you have a large and/or heavy sewing machine you're unable to carry down/up stairs?  Worried about having to park too far away?  Don't worry!  At Cornerstone Quilts we have Valet parking (Kevin) for class and club participants, and we'll carry your machine and supplies up/down the stairs for you (Kevin)!  Just park in the back lot or pull up into the circle drive and we'll take care of you from there!

We have become aware of several people who regularly attend class/clubs that are sensitive to perfumes and other scented items (such as body cologne, highly scented lotions, etc.).  Therefore, we are requesting you please limit your use of such items if you'll be attending classes/clubs.  If you forget and put your perfume on, PLEASE come anyway!  We'll just try to find more fans. :-)
